In a perfect world, every eyeglass frame matches your face shape perfectly the first time you try them on. Unfortunately, that’s not always the case.
Finding the right frame shape is an important step while purchasing glasses. Whether you have a round-, oval-, or heart-shaped face, your frames will need to compliment the contours of your face.
Not sure what our face shape is? When in doubt, just ask Oprah. In O’s Eyeglasses Intervention, Oprah’s staff looks at four subject’s face shapes and recommends glasses based on before-and-after photos. The article offers these four great tips:
- When finding your face shape, pull your hair back with a headband or ponytail holder, or check while your hair is wet to get the full view of your face.
- Use the mirror or have a friend compare your face shape to a diagram like this one.
- If using a mirror, try outlining your face with a marker or washable makeup to reduce optical illusions.
- Don’t worry if your face doesn’t fall exactly into one category – most people are renditions of different shapes. The important thing to consider is if you have more angles or curves. Then, go from there.
And, of course, make sure that when choosing sunglasses, you pick ones that are 100% UVA/UVB protected. You’ll be glad you did in the long run!
When shopping on OpDocs.com, you have the luxury of using the TryOn feature. Select a pair of glasses, then upload or import a photo from Facebook. You’ll get a great idea of what the frames will look like on your face, and be able to share the picture in an email or on Facebook for feedback!
When it all comes down, it’s about feeling comfortable in your new glasses. So make sure you do your homework on the proper frames for our face before beginning your journey to a new pair of glasses.
